Catherine Mackie has been a member of the jury since the start of the Professional Development for Environmental Journalism grant programme in 2021: she was a member of the jury from December 2021 to March 2025, during which time she assessed 264 project proposals. She has awarded a total of more than €987,504 to 264 projects from 21 countries.
Catherine Mackie is an experienced journalist and media trainer, currently working as Training and Communications Editor at Thomson Foundation. Before that, she spent more than 30 years as a senior journalist at the BBC. She now designs training programmes for journalists worldwide, helping them develop their skills through e-learning and digital platforms.
