Jonas Gerding is a German freelance multimedia journalist, mostly working in the Democratic Republic of Congo and the region.
Among others, he publishes with Deutsche Welle, Deutschlandfunk and Handelsblatt. He is interested in topics related to climate change in Central Africa, rainforests, raw materials for the energy transition and the question of reconciling development and environmental protection.
Jonas was trained at the Cologne School of Journalism and holds a master’s degree in international relations from the Technical University of Dresden. He is part of Weltreporter, a collective of German speaking foreign correspondents and board member of journalists.network, an association that supports young professionals in foreign reporting.
