Louis Bontemps is a French photographer and journalist.

After studying Law, Political Science and Humanitarian Action, he moved to Ecuador and then Bangladesh to implement development programmes. He never puts his camera down and takes numerous photographs for the associations he works with. After several years of working in international solidarity and social work, he decided to make photography his profession in 2019. Thanks to institutional clients and work focused on French and international news, he was able to turn his dream of becoming a professional photographer into reality.

In early 2021, he began running photography workshops in collaboration with social organisations and institutions in deprived areas.
Following a residency at the Ateliers Médicis in summer 2023, he created a fanzine based on photographic commissions from prisoners, turning his attention more towards documentary work.
His work is distributed by Divergence.
