Markus Wanzeck is a reporter and an editor from Germany.

Markus Wanzeck has been with Zeitenspiegel since 2011 as a reporter, editor and project manager. Since March 2025, he has been a member of the editorial team at the environmental magazine atmo. From 2014 to 2023, he held various roles (managing editor, editor, reporter) at the environmental magazine natur. As a reporter he publishes in a range of media in Germany, Austria and Switzerland such as NZZ, Spiegel Online, Der Standard, Stern or Die Zeit.

He studied philosophy and sociology in Munich and Sydney, Australia, and attended the Zeitenspiegel Reportageschule. He is co-founder and chairman of the German-Chinese Media Network (Deutsch- Chinesisches Mediennetzwerk e.V.). The association was established in 2011 by alumni of the journalists exchange programme Media Ambassadors China-Germany, the sister programme of Media Ambassadors India-Germany.

Awards and scholarships: e.g. Media Ambassadors China-Germany, Gabriel Grüner Scholarship, IJP Asia, Media Ambassadors India-Germany, nominated for German Reporters Award (Deutscher Reporterpreis) and Nannen Prize/Egon Erwin Kisch Prize. In 2017 he was fellow of the Media Ambassadors India-Germany programme. During his stay in India, he was guest journalist at Sunita Narai's Delhi-based environment magazine Down to Earth.
