Vincent Harmsen is a Dutch investigative journalist. He specialises in investigating lobbies that target environmental and public health standards.
He studied history in Amsterdam and Berlin. He began his journalistic career at the regional newspaper Gooi- en Eemlander. In 2015, he moved to Brussels to focus on the TTIP free trade agreement.
There he encountered the European chemical industry lobby, which used the transatlantic negotiations as leverage to to remove the issue of hormone-disrupting chemicals from the agenda. Since then, he has further specialised in lobbies that target environmental and public health standards. He has written extensively about Dieselgate and the Monsanto Papers.
As a freelancer, he contributes to Follow the Money, Vrij Nederland, Knack, OneWorld and Reporter Radio. For FTM, he investigates the industries behind polluting, unhealthy and potentially dangerous products. He has also worked for BNNVARA's television programme Zembla.
