Weilian Zhu is a French freelance journalist born in China.

His background as an environmental engineer has led him to work mostly on ecological topics. His work has been published in Le Monde, Geo France, Alternatives Economiques, Libération, El Pais and Aftenposten.

Weilian's articles on the industrialization of Irish forest, the illegal dynamite fishing in Lebanon, the way of life of the Brazilian Amazonia’s Ribeirinhos population, the French largest artificial forest, the impacts of EU’s hydrogen policy on North Africa have been recognised with numerous French and international awards.

Speaking fluent Mandarin, he also covers economic and social topics on China to enable Western audiences better understand the country.
