Established in November 2014, Meta.mk is an independent Macedonian news agency.
Meta.mk produces and distributes original information, news, commentary and analysis in the Macedonian, English, Albanian and Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian languages. Meta.mk is a reliable source of information about North Macedonia for the rest of the world. It has a high reputation in North Macedonia and the wider region. Its English-language coverage has made it a key source of news for members of the international community interested in North Macedonia and the Balkans. This is indicated by the fact that its content has been shared on social media by relevant EU commissioners and ambassadors of EU and NATO countries, among others.
Meta.mk is a non-profit information source for online and traditional media outlets in North Macedonia, including newspapers, TV and radio stations, agencies, institutions, and companies.
The dissemination of Meta.mk content is facilitated by the use of Creative Commons licences, which enable users to republish, share and edit the content free of charge, provided they reference the source. This ensures that dozens of other online media outlets in the country republish Meta.mk's news and watchdog products, acting as a hub for a non-profit syndication network for Macedonian media.
At the same time, Meta.mk provides the infrastructure for a content hub that disseminates anti-disinformation content from the region under the auspices of the Western Balkans Anti-Disinformation Hub. It republishes articles by partners from six countries in their respective languages.
