KIEV / GOMA / TIGRAY - Sexual violence is unfortunately common in conflicts and wars. It is a serious violation of humanitarian law of war that is rarely punished. For victims, the consequences are profound - physically, mentally and socially.

With the project ‘Survivors of conflict-related sexual violence’, Mona Van den Berg aims to draw attention to conflict-related sexual violence against women worldwide.

It will mainly be a documentary photo series interspersed with portraits. Survivors will actively participate in this project. The aim is to capture what they want to make visible and what is meaningful to them. Survivors will have input in the selection process of the photos and help decide on the content of the book. If they wish to remain anonymous, their identity will be protected.
